What inspired me to become a tutor - Back in 2011 I heard a radio program on dyslexia, which I had never really heard of--this piqued my interest in becoming a tutor in order to help kids "unwrap their gifts" by giving them the tools for better reading. My art teaching job had just ended unexpectedly at that time, so I was looking for my "next thing" - and happened to meet a few weeks later someone involved with one of the first fund-raisers for the new CDCUW, who told me that "YES, they need tutors!" when I asked. I came in and met Tammy, submitted an application for the 2012 training cohort, and have been happily helping students "unwrap their gifts" since, as both a tutor and now a developer/trainer of more tutors.
